“It’s Dream-like”: Mackenzie Resident Scores $500K Daily Grand Prize

After seeing a friend’s Facebook post about a winning Daily Grand ticket purchased in Mackenzie from the October 17, 2024 draw, Marita Grattan remembered to check her tickets. That’s when she realized she won $500,000.  

“I was in my living room when I found out,” recalled Grattan. “My son was with me when I checked the ticket on the BCLC Lotto! App and then I told my husband. He didn’t believe me!” 

The Mackenzie resident plans to use some of her winnings to help her family, build a garage and complete home renovations. 

On how it feels to win the lottery? 

“It’s dream-like. It has taken away all the stress I have, and we can help our kids. It will make things a lot easier and provides a sense of security.” 

Grattan purchased the winning ticket at the lottery kiosk inside Mackenzie Mall in Mackenzie.
