When Caryn Gordon discovered she and her partner matched 4/4 Extra numbers from the July 11, 2025, Lotto Max draw, she thought she was going to be sick – but for good reason; the couple had scored a stunning $500,000 prize.
Gordon was set to go shopping with her partner, Mogens Reese-Hansen, when they scanned the ticket on a self-scanner and discovered they’d won big.
Hansen then re-checked the ticket with the retailer at the store they were at, who verified the win was indeed real.
“I had to go home!” Gordon recalled.
Once the reality of the win set in and Gordon’s sickness from the initial shock subsided, the two of them shared the news with their siblings and son.
“They were happy for us and in disbelief,” Hansen exclaimed.
The Kitimat residents plan to celebrate their win with a few trips in the near future, including visiting family on Vancouver Island, followed by a vacation in Thailand.
The couple purchased the winning ticket at Kildala Grocery on Babine Street in Kitimat.
