Paul Lougheed initially told his golfing buddies that he won $1,000, but after he sent the text he saw there were a few extra zeroes; it turns out he actually won $1 million from the November 15, 2025 Lotto 6/49 draw.
“I was in my kitchen getting ready to go out,” recalled Lougheed. “The morning football games already happened so I gave my tickets a scan [on the BCLC Lotto! App]. I thought it was $1,000 but then I started to look at all the zeroes.”
Lougheed is taking some time to decide what’s next, but he plans to look at investing options.
The winning ticket was purchased at Shefield & Sons inside Semiahmoo Shopping Centre in Surrey.
So far in 2025, B.C. lottery players have redeemed more than $67 million in winnings from Lotto 6/49.
Lotto 6/49 is a nationwide lottery game drawn on Wednesdays and Saturdays after 7:30 p.m. (PST).
