Dianne MacPhee doesn’t normally buy lottery tickets, but an impulse purchase ended up scoring her a $500,000 Extra prize from the April 8, 2025 Lotto Max draw.
“I found out I won at home, as I was just about to leave to run some errands,” recalled MacPhee of the moment she realized she won. “I checked the ticket on the [BCLC Lotto!] app and then took it to the Save-On-Foods where I bought it from, because I know the staff there!”
The Duncan resident first shared the news with her partner. “He didn’t believe me! I had to show him, then he just thought it was so awesome.”
MacPhee plans to use her winnings to help her family and visit Nova Scotia, where she is from. She is also excited to hire a personal trainer. “It’s been on my list for quite a while!”

“Really overwhelming, but in the best way! It allows me to support those I love.”
MacPhee purchased the winning ticket at the Save-On-Foods on the Trans-Canada Highway in Duncan.
