Retirees Kenneth and Michele Babich couldn’t believe their eyes, after learning that they won $1 million from a $10 In the Money Multiplier Scratch & Win ticket, which is the game’s top prize.
“We were at home, and I scratched the ticket,” recalled Michele. “Then I showed Ken after checking [on the BCLC Lotto! App]. He thought it was $50 seeing the ‘50x.’”
“Then I realized it was $1 million!” said Kenneth. “One reason we like to play and what we appreciate about the lottery, is all the different ways that the community benefits from the money generated from lotteries.”
At the time of their prize claim, the Babichs hadn’t yet shared the news of their win but planned to tell their children shortly after.
While the Mill Bay couple already have a cruise booked, they are now viewing this cruise as a celebratory trip.
“It will help with our quality of life,” shared Michele. “It’s going to help us give back more to the causes we are passionate about.”
The winning ticket was purchased at Thrifty Foods on Mill Bay Road in Mill Bay.
