Ann Maybee was shopping at a corner store when she found out some extra exciting news; it turns out that she won a $500,000 Extra prize from the August 1, 2025 Lotto Max draw.
“I was inside Munchy Business and scanning my ticket,” recalled Maybee. “That’s when I first found out that I won. The first thing that came to mind was, ‘holy cow!’ It felt unreal and then I immediately thought, ‘how do I claim this?’”
At the time of her prize claim, the Qualicum Beach resident hadn’t yet shared the news of her win with anyone. “I haven’t told anyone yet! I am still too excited.”
Maybee admitted that she is “still processing the win” and doesn’t have any immediate plans for her windfall.
On how it feels to win the lottery?
“Very nice! And nice is not a word to be underestimated!”
The winning ticket was purchased at a Red Apple on Island Highway West in Parksville.
