Surrey Resident Purchasing New Vehicle After $1 Million Lotto 6/49 Win

Derek Crawford was relaxing at home when he discovered that he won $1 million from the August 20, 2025 Lotto 6/49 draw. 

“I thought, ‘holy cow!’” said Crawford, on the moment he realized he won. 

After using the BCLC Lotto! App to check his ticket, the Surrey resident called his parents. “They were really excited for me; they couldn’t believe it!” 

Apart from celebrating and sharing some of his winnings with family and friends, Crawford plans to purchase a vehicle. 

On how it feels to win?

“It’s life changing.” 

Crawford purchased the winning ticket at Best Market on 24th Avenue and 168th Street in Surrey. 

So far in 2025, B.C. lottery players have redeemed more than $51 million in winnings from Lotto 6/49.
