Alan Medeiros’ immediately thought about early retirement, after learning that he won $500,000 from the April 3, 2025, Daily Grand draw.
“I validate my tickets at the same store I buy them,” recalled Medeiros of the moment he realized he won. “I first scanned the ticket myself then asked the person there to scan it!”
The Surrey resident shared the news with his family in their group chat. “Everyone thought I was just joking, then my wife sent me a direct message to confirm.”
Medeiros plans to put most of his winnings into investments but looks forward to taking his family on a “dream trip to Disneyland.”

“It’s nice to think that I can work because I want to, not because I have to.”
The winning ticket was purchased and validated at the 7-Eleven on King George Boulevard and 72 Avenue in Surrey.
