On February 22, 2025, David Campbell received the most memorable wake-up call of his life when he discovered that he had won a $1,000,000 prize – the largest Keno prize ever won in B.C – from the previous day’s draw.

The Victoria resident had been enjoying a few games of Keno on PlayNow the evening of February 21, 2025, when he decided to go to bed before checking to see if he was a winner. The next morning, he was pleasantly surprised to discover that he matched all ten numbers and the 5x Keno Bonus from one of the draws, netting him a spectacular windfall of $1,000,000.

“When I saw the million-dollar win my first thought was, ‘I need a new computer,’” Campbell recalled. “Then I thought maybe someone was punking me!”

Once the news settled in that the win was real, Campbell told his best friend.

“He said, ‘Yeah right!’”

Campbell has plans to use his prize to help those around him and also looks forward to enjoying some travel, in addition to treating himself to a new computer.

“I have a handful of grateful people around me and plan to celebrate helping those people,” he said.

On how it feels to be a millionaire?

“It really hasn’t sunk in. I’m shocked and in disbelief!”

In 2024, B.C. lottery players redeemed more than $247 million in winnings from Keno.

Players can purchase Keno at lottery retail and hospitality locations and online at PlayNow.com. Each draw offers the chance to win up to $200,000. Players can add Keno Bonus to their ticket and multiply their potential winnings by 1.5x, 2x, 5x, 7x or 10x. Players can check their lottery tickets anytime, on iOS and Android devices using the BCLC Lotto! App here.
