Georgena Watmough had quite the surprise for her colleagues after learning her group — totaling 18 people, won $1 million from the July 9, 2025 Lotto 6/49 draw.
After her colleagues saw that someone in Sooke won, they confirmed amongst themselves that their ticket was the winner.
Apart from sharing the news with the group, Watmough — who lives in Victoria — was most excited to share the news with her kids. “They were thrilled; they didn’t think it was real!”
Watmough and her two friends have varying plans on how to spend their winnings, and mentioned that for some it means home upgrades, helping kids with school and having the opportunity to plan things differently.
The winning ticket was purchased from the Chevron on Sooke Road and Church Road in Sooke.
So far in 2025, B.C. lottery players have redeemed more than $46 million in winnings from Lotto 6/49.
