John S. is looking forward to an Extra special retirement after discovering he matched 4/4 Extra numbers from the February 28, 2026, Lotto 6/49 draw, netting him $500,000.
The Armstrong resident was at a 7-Eleven in Armstrong when he opted to check his ticket on a self-scanner and was taken aback when he found out he was a winner.
“I thought it was broken,” he recalled of the initial moment he discovered his win. “I was in disbelief!”
John couldn’t wait to share the news with his wife, who was at home at the time of his win.
“I told her to check the numbers on her Lotto! App. She thought I was pulling her leg,” he said.
In addition to making his retirement dreams come true, John has a few initial plans for his prize, including paying off his mortgage and gifting some to his kids.
“This is going to make retirement very nice,” he exclaimed. “It’s surreal!”
The winning ticket was purchased at the Armstrong Co-op on Okanagan Street.
In 2025, B.C. lottery players redeemed more than $51 million from Extra and $71 million from Lotto 6/49. Lotto 6/49 is a nationwide lottery game drawn on Wednesdays and Saturdays after 7:30 p.m. (PST).
