Albertina K’s decision to buy a Lotto 6/49 ticket “on a whim” for the February 15, 2025 draw was one she’s glad she made as she matched 5/6+ numbers, netting her exactly $245,448.80.
The Penticton resident was shopping at the Shoppers Drug Mart on Main Street when she opted to purchase the ticket. Nearly a year later, upon finding the ticket while cleaning out her purse, she discovered her win after scanning her ticket on BCLC’s Lotto! App.
“My daughter scanned the ticket for me on the app on her phone and then handed me an envelope that said I won. I was oblivious! I couldn’t believe it,” Albertina recalled of the moment she found out she won.
Naturally, her daughter was the first to discover that she won big. Albertina then shared the news with her other daughter and husband.
“They were all very excited for me,” she said.
Albertina celebrated her windfall over a nice dinner with her family, and while she doesn’t have any immediate plans for her prize, she mentioned “it will probably change my life a bit.”
