Rene L. and Brittany C. were stunned upon checking PlayNow.com and discovering they were multi-millionaires after matching 6/6 numbers from the January 31, 2026 Lotto 6/49 draw. The couple split the $5-million Classic Jackpot with another ticket purchased in Quebec, netting them an impressive $2.5 million prize.

“My first thought was, ‘No!’ and then I jumped up and showed Brittany,” recalled Rene. “Brittany thought I was playing a trick on her and wanted to go to the store to check if it was real.”

After taking the ticket to the Pharmasave on Main Street in Lillooet — where the ticket was also purchased — and verifying that the win was indeed real, reality —or unreality —finally began to sink in for Brittany.

“It feels unreal,” recalled Brittany, on how it feels to win a prize of this amount.

So far, Rene and Brittany have shared the news with a few close family members and friends and celebrated their big win over dinner together.

The Lillooet residents have a few immediate plans for their win, including paying off their current mortgage and “house hunting” for their next dream home. What they are most looking forward to is the financial freedom that this win will bring.

“We can enjoy life and spend more time with our kids,” said Brittany.

In 2025, B.C. lottery players redeemed more than $71 million in winnings from Lotto 6/49.

Lotto 6/49 is a nationwide lottery game drawn on Wednesdays and Saturdays after 7:30 p.m. (PST). The Gold Ball Draw is a guaranteed prize draw where players will win either the Guaranteed Prize of $1 million, or the growing Gold Ball Jackpot that starts at $10 million. The Classic Jackpot offers a prize that is always $5 million.
