Maple Ridge Resident Taking Family on Dream Vacation After Scoring $1 Million from Lotto Max

October 19, 2026

BCLC Lotto Max winner Mehrdad P.

Mehrdad P. was picking up a light bulb and his route required him to pass a gas station. While he was there, he decided to check his lottery tickets. What did he do after using a self-scanner to check his ticket and learning he won a $1 million Maxmillions prize from the October 9, 2026 Lotto Max draw?

He immediately left and went back home.

The Maple Ridge resident first shared the news with his wife.

“She said, ‘you are acting weird’ and I told her, ‘I am weird’,” recalled Mehrdad. “I told her I won $100,000, but later we checked on the [BCLC] Lotto! App and saw it was one million!”

Mehrdad plans to use his windfall to take his family on a “dream holiday” but is otherwise taking time to consider his options.

On how it feels to win?

“I’m super excited. I can’t describe it.”

The winning ticket was purchased at the Smart Stop in an Esso station on Lougheed Highway and Willingdon Avenue in Burnaby.
