Clifford S. was in complete shock after discovering that the Lotto 6/49 ticket his son gave him won a $500,000 Extra prize from the December 27, 2025 draw.
“I was walking home with the dog and found out as soon as I got back,” recalled Clifford. “My wife scanned the ticket on her [BCLC] Lotto! App, and I thought she was kidding.”
The Nanaimo resident called his sister to share the news. “She thought I was kidding! She said she was so happy for me.”
Clifford plans to use his winnings to pay off his mortgage.
The winning ticket was purchased at a lotto kiosk at Nanaimo North Town Centre in Nanaimo.
In 2025, B.C. lottery players redeemed more than $51 million from Extra and $71 million from Lotto 6/49. Lotto 6/49 is a nationwide lottery game drawn on Wednesdays and Saturdays after 7:30 p.m. (PST).
