Robert S. was in his workshop when he checked his Lotto 6/49 ticket from the June 17, 2026 draw using the BCLC Lotto! App to check.
When he saw that he had won a $500,000 Extra prize, he wondered if he really won and went to a retailer to double check.
“I didn’t know how the scanning on the app worked,” recalled Robert. “Was it for real? I showed my wife and then took it to the retailer to confirm what the app said!’
The Nelson resident was most excited to share the news with his wife. “We were both in disbelief!”
While he has no specific plans to celebrate, Robert is looking forward to his trip to Spain he had already booked.
Robert also shared that he plans to help his eight grandchildren and complete some home renovations.
The winning ticket was purchased at Pharmasave on Baker Street in Nelson.
So far in 2026, B.C. lottery players have redeemed more than $26 million from Extra and $40 million from Lotto 6/49. Lotto 6/49 is a nationwide lottery game drawn on Wednesdays and Saturdays after 7:30 p.m. (PST).
