BCLC is proud to give back to the citizens of B.C. and help communities grow. Revenue generated by gambling goes back to the Province of B.C. and is distributed in a variety of ways, including to communities through Host Local Government payments and the Province of B.C.’s Community Gaming Grants program.

In 2023/24, Grand Villa Casino contributed to the Burnaby community and economy in a variety of ways. Here are just a few.

Supporting community initiatives

In 2023, the City of Burnaby allocated its share of provincial gambling revenue from hosting Grand Villa Casino to several large-scale, multi-year community projects. The City utilized $2.3 million of gambling revenue to support the redevelopment of Fairacres Garage & Stables. With its prime location and heritage designation, the historic building will be revitalized for public gatherings and functions.

Another $2.2 million in gambling revenue funded the continuing installation of electric vehicle charging stations at various civic facilities, such as the new Rosemary Brown Arena. Additionally, $1.6 million contributed to the renewal and rehabilitation of the facility at the Burnaby Lake Rowing Pavilion.

A Loving Spoonful

Last year, employees at Grand Villa Casino Burnaby had the incredible opportunity to support A Loving Spoonful, and positively impact the lives of individuals living with HIV and co-existing illnesses, those who are experiencing crisis, and other vulnerable groups by preparing 526 meals, providing nourishment and comfort to ensure no one goes hungry.
