Giving Back in Courtenay

In 2023, the City of Courtenay allocated its share of provincial gambling revenue from hosting Chances Courtenay to a range of community causes and cultural initiatives, such as the Courtenay & District Historical Society, the Sid Williams Theatre Society and the Comox Valley Art Gallery.

Gambling revenue also helped to bolster public safety and security through the funding of two ongoing RCMP positions in the community and supported important infrastructure projects. In the spirit of reconciliation, the City also used this funding to support the K’ómoks First Nation Guardian Watchmen Program and National Indigenous Peoples Day Celebration.
