Cranbroook (Ktunaxa Nation)

The Ktunaxa Nation uses its share of provincial gaming revenue from the St. Eugene Golf Resort and Casino (also known as the Casino of the Rockies) to give back to the community and enhance the award-winning resort, which was developed in partnership with Samson Cree and Mnjikaning First Nations, which opened in 2000.

Community Gaming Grants

Funds generated by lottery, casino and sports-betting go back to the Province of B.C. which distributes it in many ways, including through its Community Gaming Grants program. Last year, 35 human and social services along with sport focused organizations in Cranbrook received Community Gaming Grants, totalling $688,460. 

This funding supports the delivery of accessible and inclusive programs and services within the community.

Did you know?

Casino of the Rockies supported the Ktunaxa community after the devastation of the 2023 forest fires with donations of $1,500 as well as many essential needs such as blankets, clothing, and self care products. They are also a proud sponsor of the Spirit of the Rockies: St. Eugene Grand Parade. Casino of the Rockies supports the local economy by working with local vendors such as JJ’s Laundry Service, Metro & Son Locksmith, Cranbrook Photo, and many more. In 2023, Casino of the Rockies gave back to the community through donations to a multitude of organizations, including East Kootenay Foundation for Health, the Cranbrook Food Bank, Cranbrook Bucks Hockey, and Valley Alley Bowling League.
