BCLC is proud to give back to the citizens of B.C. and help communities grow. Revenue generated by gambling goes back to the Province of B.C. and is distributed in a variety of ways, including to communities through Host Local Government payments and the Province of B.C.’s Community Gaming Grants program.

In 2024/25, Chances Dawson Creek contributed to the Dawson Creek community and economy in a variety of ways. Here are just a few.

Supporting community initiatives

In 2024, the City of Dawson Creek allocated its share of provincial gambling revenue to support several local organizations and services. The largest portion ($460,000) was directed to the Dawson Creek Public Library to help maintain public access to resources, programs, and services.

Additional grants included:

  • Dawson Creek Exhibition Association: $150,000 to support community events and facility use.
  • Step Up and Ride: $27,602 to support accessible local transportation.
  • Dawson Creek Art Gallery: $21,102 for arts programming and operations.
  • Mile Zero Park Society: $50,000 to assist with park operations and maintenance.

These contributions supported a range of community amenities across transportation, arts, recreation, and literacy in Dawson Creek throughout the year.

Did you know?

In 2024, Chances Dawson Creek supported the community through charitable donations and local spending. The site distributed $8,800 in donations to several local organizations, including the South Peace Historical Society, South Peace Palliative Care Society, SPCA South Peace, Dawson Creek Society for Community Living, and the Dawson Creek and District Hospital Foundation.
