BCLC is proud to give back to the citizens of B.C. and help communities grow. Revenue generated by gambling goes back to the Province of B.C. and is distributed in a variety of ways, including to communities through Host Local Government payments and the Province of B.C.’s Community Gaming Grants program.

In 2024/25, River Rock Casino Resort contributed to the Richmond community and economy in a variety of ways. Here are just a few.

Community benefits

In 2024, the City of Richmond received a total of $11.62 million in gambling revenue. These funds were allocated to a variety of community initiatives and infrastructure projects, including: 

  • $3.1 million allocated to a variety of community grants.
  • $1.28 million placed into Capital Reserves for current and future projects.
  • $913,558 in support of the Richmond RCMP.
  • $250,000 to support Council Community initiatives.

Some of the projects approved in 2024, partially funded by these reserves, included:

  • Reconstruction and exhibit development of the First Nations
  • Bunkhouse at the Britannia Shipyards Heritage Site.
  • Renewal of outdoor pools at Steveston and South Arm.
  • Upgrades to Richmond Fire Hall No. 7 on No. 6 Road.
  • Infrastructure repairs to the Richmond Curling Club.
  • Community playground replacements.
