BCLC is proud to give back to the citizens of B.C. and help communities grow. Revenue generated by gambling goes back to the Province of B.C. and is distributed in a variety of ways, including to communities through Host Local Government payments and the Province of B.C.’s Community Gaming Grants program.

Community benefits

In 2024, the City of Terrace allocated gambling revenue to complete several infrastructure projects that contribute to the maintenance and improvement of city services.

  • Pavement Overlays: $145,549 was used for road resurfacing, addressing significant deficiencies like potholes and cracking 
  • Sidewalk Resurfacing: $62,916 went toward sidewalk repairs and improvements to maintain and enhance the condition of city sidewalks
  • Eby Storm Inlet Repairs: $15,208 was spent on repairs to the water controls at the overflow inlet, improving the storm water and sewer system
  • Road Crack Sealing: $100,098 was used to increase longevity and reduce future maintenance costs of mid-life asphalt roadways
  • RCMP Parking Expansion: $20,000 helped add six additional parking spaces at the RCMP detachment

Did you know?

In 2024, BCLC sponsored Terrace Riverboat Days, the city’s annual celebration of Fraser River heritage and community spirit. The multi-day festival included a parade, live music, food vendors, artisan markets, family-friendly activities, and a drone light show, showcasing the region’s culture and vibrant waterfront atmosphere.
