BCLC is proud to give back to the citizens of B.C. and help communities grow. Revenue generated by gambling goes back to the Province of B.C. and is distributed in a variety of ways, including to communities through Host Local Government payments and the Province of B.C.’s Community Gaming Grants program.

In 2024/25, Chances Single Point contributed to the Williams Lake community and economy in a variety of ways. Here are just a few.

Community benefits

In 2024, the City of Williams Lake allocated its share of provincial gambling revenue to support a range of community organizations, infrastructure improvements, and cultural initiatives. Key investments included:

  • $160,000 to the Williams Lake and District Chamber of Commerce for operations at the Tourism Discovery Centre.
  • $70,650 toward the Williams Creek Waterfront Boardwalk Feasibility Study, contributing to planning and assessment of potential waterfront development.
  • $53,200 for upgrades to the Scout Island Nature Centre, supporting facility improvements at a key environmental education site.

 

  • $42,000 to the Cariboo Chilcotin Conservation Society for its Water Wise Program, focused on community-based water education, and $37,000 for its Waste Wise Program.
  • $25,000 to the Williams Lake Stampede Association to support the city’s annual rodeo event.
  • $24,300 for Arts Centre upgrades.
  • $24,000 to the Museum of the Cariboo Chilcotin Society to assist with operations.
  • $22,920 to Cariboo Chilcotin Partners for Literacy.
  • Additional grants ranging from $2,500 to $20,000 were distributed to various community groups.

Did you know?

Last year, the Province of B.C. allocated more than $140 million to not-for-profit organizations through the Community Gaming Grants. Out of the grant recipients, 28 organizations were from Williams Lake and more than $880,880 went to support organizations in the human and social services sector, public safety, sports, arts and culture, and parent advisory councils.
