When you play with BCLC, you’re connected to something bigger that benefits all British Columbians.

Whether you're buying a lottery ticket, visiting your local casino or making a bet on PlayNow, what’s played here stays here. Read on to see how your play with BCLC helps fund provincial grants and initiatives that help make the province a brighter place to be.

Supporting Health Care

Profits from play help fund provincial initiatives, including community health programs that support youth and their families.

Connecting Communities

BCLC employee volunteering and initiatives help make B.C. communities brighter.

Generating Jobs

Play with BCLC supports thousands of jobs across the province.

How profits from play helped support access to care

Every year, BCLC’s profits go back into the Province, including $140 million in Community Gaming Grants that support a wide range of non-profit organizations in their delivery of vital, local and ongoing programs and services.

A $250,000 capital project grant helped to renovate Foundry Langley, a much-needed resource that helps youth and their family access the integrated care they need in five core areas: drop-in counselling, substance use, primary care, youth and family peer support.

And now that care all happens in a vibrant, welcoming space that reflects the people who need it most – thanks in part to play with BCLC.

What began as a small organization responsible for lottery games has since grown into a significant contributor to B.C.’s economy and communities. BCLC is proud that our business plays an important role supporting provincial initiatives that make B.C. a better place to live, and to help strengthen important community services, supports and connections.”
- Pat Davis, president and CEO of BCLC

Working together to give back

Playing with BCLC supports thousands of local jobs, within our organization and at gaming service provider partners across the province. And the purpose-driven people in those jobs not only support shared moments of entertainment every day but also come together to give back through employee volunteering programs.

This past winter, BCLC together with our casino service providers participated in nine festive community collaborations, working with a range of partners and local non-profits to support communities in need with food, personal care items and more. So, whether you’re playing, working, or partnering with us, you’re part of something bigger. You’re helping bring people together and strengthening communities across B.C.

Win-Wins by the Numbers

Employee volunteering and local giving initiatives are just one way that communities in all corners of B.C. are winning together.

Generating win-wins across generations

For 40 years, BCLC has brought people together through shared moments of entertainment. Over that time, thousands of employees at the organization and service provider partners have not only built meaningful careers but have helped to make B.C. a better place to be.

For Tiana Roy, BCLC has not only connected her to her community in Kamloops, but to her own family.

When she started her career as a summer student at BCLC in 2007, her mother, Karen Davies, had already been working as a software developer with BCLC for over two decades.

“We all went to the BCLC summer barbecues, the Christmas parties. BCLC was our life, pretty much!” Tiana laughs.

Today, Tiana is a manager of operations at BCLC’s Customer Support Centre and her sister Amanda Best also works on the lottery line of business, continuing to make BCLC an important part of their family legacy.
