An Extra Special Thanksgiving Celebration for Surrey Man After $2-million BC/49 Win

October 12, 2023

Ronald Cacacho had millions of reasons to be thankful this past weekend after discovering he won the game’s top prize of $2-million from the September 30, 2023 draw.

“Once I found out I won I had trouble sleeping because I kept thinking I’m dreaming,” said Cacacho of the winning ticket, which he purchased from the Esso on King George Boulevard in Surrey.

The Surrey resident was at a mall when he discovered he matched 6/6 numbers after checking the ticket on a self-checker, and couldn’t wait to share the news with his family.

“Of course, I had to tell my wife and then my kids. They didn’t believe me at first.”

Cacacho, originally from the Philippines, celebrated his win with his family during their Thanksgiving celebration last weekend and plans to use part of his winnings to start a small business back home. He also looks forward to paying off his mortgage and gifting some to his kids.

On how it feels to be a multi-millionaire?

“I’m just so happy I don’t exactly know how to explain it… I’m still in disbelief. I think just having the financial freedom of not worrying about money is a dream come true.”
