Links and Buttons
Throughout the authoring experience, links will appear in a variety of different forms and will have rules dictating their appearance and behaviour to maintain consistency across pages.
This topic is closely related to the topic of Font Awesome Icons, which is further discussed in the next section.
In-text Links (Inline Links)
- Internal links (links leading to other pages on the BCLC corporate site, ie. Careers) should open in the same tab; links will open like this by default
- External links (links to pages not coming from the current site, ie. GameSense.com) should open in a new tab; this can be done by selecting "New Tab" when configuring a link and saving
Note: URLs linking to PlayNow (ie. playnow.com) or BCLC (ie. lotto.bclc.com) are technically external links, but are exceptions and should open in the same tab like internal links.
Call to Actions (CTAs or Buttons)
- Internal links (links leading to other pages on the BCLC corporate site, ie. Careers) should open in the same tab; this will happen by default
- External links (links to pages not coming from the current site, ie. GameSense.com) should display an appropriate icon depending on the link type, and should open in a new tab; this can be done by checking the "Open in a new window" box
Note: Secondary buttons and other components that have an embedded CTA can change the displayed icon through configuration. The primary button does not have this option but should still follow the same link behaviour (internal/external).
