BCLC is proud to give back to the citizens of B.C. and help communities grow. Revenue generated by gambling goes back to the Province of B.C. and is distributed in a variety of ways, including to communities through Host Local Government payments and the Province of B.C.’s Community Gaming Grants program.

In 2023/24, Chances Dawson Creek contributed to the Dawson Creek community and economy in a variety of ways. Here are just a few.

Supporting community initiatives

In 2023, the City of Dawson Creek allocated its share of provincial gambling revenue for hosting Chances Dawson Creek to a range of community initiatives. $455,000 was used to support operations and development of the Dawson Creek Public Library, a vital cornerstone for the community. Funds were also used to support the Dawson Creek Step Up “N” Ride Society, a local non-profit dedicated to providing door-to-door, wheelchairaccessible transportation service in the community, as well as the Dawson Creek Art Gallery.

Did you know?

In 2023, Great Canadian Entertainment made donations to a variety of organizations from gambling revenue from Chances Dawson Creek. South Peace Hospice, South Peace Crime Prevention Association, and the BC SPCA Dawson Creek each received donations of $1,000 or more.
