Fort St. John

BCLC is proud to give back to the citizens of B.C. and help communities grow. Revenue generated by gambling goes back to the Province of B.C. and is distributed in a variety of ways, including to communities through Host Local Government payments and the Province of B.C.'s Community Gaming Grants.

In 2023/24, Chances Casino Fort St. John contributed to the Fort St. John community and economy in a variety of ways. Here are just a few.

Pomeroy Sports Centre

Since 2007, the City of Fort St. John has received more than $13 million in Host Local Government payments. Last year, the City of Fort St. John received $926,013 generated by Chances Casino Fort St. John to continue supporting operations of the Pomeroy Sport Centre.

In 2023, the Pomeroy Sport Centre hosted the Canadian Youth Long Track Championships and the BC Long Track Championships. The Centre saw over 5,000 hours of activities (speed skating, hockey, figure skating and lacrosse) on the two NHL-sized ice surfaces, and had over 8,500 residents participate in drop-in skating and hockey sessions.

Community Gaming Grants

Last year, 7 human and social services along with sport focused organizations in Fort St. John received Community Gaming Grants, totalling $204,600. This funding supports the delivery of accessible and inclusive programs and services within the community.

Organizations in Fort St. John that received a Community Gaming Grant last year include: 

  • Totem Nursery Preschool Society
  • Fort St. John Women’s Resource Society
  • Fort St. John Figure Skating Club

Did you know?

In 2023, Chances Casino Fort St. John donated $25,000 to the Fort St. John Hospital Foundation, bringing their total contribution to the Foundation to more than half a million dollars.
