Robert R. started his Sunday like many others – getting ready to walk the dog and ease into the day. Then an email arrived saying the 58-year-old Abbotsford resident had won a prize.
“I got an email saying I won, so I went to log in on my desktop,” Robert recalled. “I thought it was going to be a Free Play or something.”
Robert had won $500,000 playing the Lotto 6/49 Extra on PlayNow.com for the September 19, 2026 draw. “My first thought was OMG – stunned,” he said. “I was stunned all day.”
The Abbotsford resident said he shared the good news with his wife who was just as stunned as he was.
Robert plans to celebrate by taking a trip to Toronto to watch a Blue Jays game. Travel is definitely in his future; he says there are a few places on his list that he and his wife would like to travel to.
As far as retirement goes, Robert says this prize has been life changing. “It set me up for retirement,” he said.
