Jane D. picked up more than just groceries while shopping, after learning that she won the $5-million Classic Jackpot prize from the August 8, 2026 Lotto 6/49 draw.
“I was at the Country Grocer on Cedar [in Nanaimo] when I found out I won,” recalled Jane. “I didn’t know how to react. The cashier was almost more ecstatic than me!”
The Surrey resident first shared the news with her husband. “My husband waited for me in the car to bring out groceries, then I told him. He didn’t believe me at first, then I showed him the validation slip and he counted the zeroes.”
Jane has several plans for her windfall including home renovations, contributing to her investments, and future travel.
“I want to go on a trip and get a suite on a cruise!”

“It’s very exciting. I have more flexibility now.”
The winning ticket was purchased at Rexall on Willow Street in Chemainus.
