Rosa Rodriguez often passed the BCLC Vancouver office while on the SkyTrain and wondered when it would be her time to visit to claim a prize. Her time has come, as Rodriguez won $1 million from the July 8, 2023 Lotto 6/49 draw.
“I was at the Port Coquitlam Chevron to get gas and buy another [lottery] ticket,” recalled Rodriguez. “I checked my [other] ticket and thought I only won $1,000. I was too short to see the scanner so I had to lean up and scan again — I could not believe I just won a million dollars!”
The Coquitlam resident was most excited to tell her husband she won. “He was so excited and gave me a hug.”
Rodriguez plans to visit her family in the Philippines, renovate her home and build a new home in the Philippines. She also intends to help her son and visit Singapore, where she first met her husband.

Rodriguez purchased the winning ticket at the London Drugs in Coquitlam Centre.
