In honour of her late mother who purchased Scratch & Win tickets, Carol Sutherland decided to purchase a 10X the Cash Scratch & Win ticket as it matched the accent colour in her home — orange. That ticket ended up winning Sutherland the game’s top prize of $150,000.
Sutherland couldn’t believe her eyes when she learned she won and even drove back to the purchase location to verify the ticket.
She was most excited to tell her family of her win.
“I called my sister and brother; I couldn’t call my daughter while she as at work,” recalled Sutherland. “My brother said ‘unbelievable!’”
The Golden resident said this win will “make life easier” and plans to visit Mexico in January.
Sutherland purchased the winning ticket at the Shell station on Trans-Canada Highway in Golden.
