Employee giving and volunteering

Our people are committed to making a positive impact in their communities. Through fundraising or volunteering, they support the causes they care about.

Employee giving

BCLC has always had a rich history of giving back. Several years ago, an Employee Giving Committee was started to help create fundraising campaigns and employee-giving initiatives that would allow us to better support the communities where we live, work and play. Thanks to the efforts and generosity of our people, we’ve proudly donated thousands of dollars through activities such as 50/50 draws, auctions, payroll deductions, and more. To reflect the preferences of our employees and provide an opportunity for other charities to be eligible for our assistance, charities are voted upon every three years.

Play It Forward volunteers

Play it Forward Volunteer program

The term Play it Forward means giving back financially, and donating our time and skills to make a difference. Our employees have such diverse backgrounds and interests, and our volunteer program gives them the flexibility and paid time off to volunteer with the organizations or causes of their choice. From sorting goods at the local food bank, serving guests at a soup kitchen or mentoring high school students, our employees drive positive change.

BC Gaming Facilities Charity Golf Tournament

BCLC staff, casino service providers, and suppliers Play It Forward every year. This year, funds generated in the charity golf tournament will support the B.C. Children's Hospital Foundation. The B.C. Children's Hospital is the only hospital in the province devoted exclusively to the care of children. That means one million kids—including some of the sickest and most seriously injured—count on the hospital for specialized care they often can't receive anywhere else.

Led by a team of BCLC employees, the B.C. Gaming Facilities Charity Golf Tournament raises funds to support important organizations. The 2019 tournament raised $57,000 for the B.C. and Yukon Chapter of the Children's Wish Foundation. Since the first event in 2001, approximately $767,000 has been donated to causes supporting the betterment of children in B.C. Although the tournament has been on hiatus since 2020, BCLC looks forward to reintroducing the tournament in 2024!
