BCLC is proud to give back to the citizens of B.C. and help communities grow. Revenue generated by gambling goes back to the Province of B.C. and is distributed in a variety of ways, including to communities through Host Local Government payments and the Province of B.C.'s Community Gaming Grants program.

In 2022/23, Chances Courtenay contributed to the Courtenay community and economy in a variety of ways. Here are just a few.

Giving Back in Courtenay

In 2022, the City of Courtenay allocated its share of provincial gambling revenue from hosting Chances Courtenay to a range of community causes and cultural initiatives.

Funds supported downtown arts and culture through ongoing annual support of the Courtenay & District Historical Society and Sid Williams Theatre Society, as well as the Comox Valley Art Gallery. Gambling revenue also funded infrastructure projects, and public safety and security be providing funding for two ongoing RCMP positions in the community.  

Did you know?

In 2022, Chances Courtenay patrons and staff contributed $1,000 and three overflowing grocery carts of food to the Comox Valley Food Bank. More than 3,000 members of the community rely on the Comox Valley Food Bank for food and hampers each month.
