BCLC is proud to give back to the citizens of B.C. and help communities grow. Revenue generated by gambling goes back to the Province of B.C. and is distributed in a variety of ways, including to communities through Host Local Government payments and the Province of B.C.’s Community Gaming Grants program.
In 2021/22, Parq Vancouver and Hastings Racecourse & Casino contributed to the Vancouver community and economy in a variety of ways. Here are just a few.
Kiwassa Neighbourhood Services Association
In 2021, the City of Vancouver allocated a share of its provincial gambling revenue to Kiwassa Neighbourhood Services Association. Kiwassa offers free programs and services for individuals in the Hastings-Sunrise neighbourhood. Funds went to support its Eastside youth wellness program which provides direct outreach for young people. The program strives to ensure optimal health through the provision of recreational and social supports for young people.
Local Love BC: Greater Vancouver Food Bank
BCLC launched a unique online fundraising experience that has double impact in communities across B.C. The campaign supported businesses and Food Banks, across the province, in select municipalities. In Vancouver, the campaign supported the Greater Vancouver Food Bank which has also been BCLC's corporate charity of choice among staff for many years.
