Christmas came earlier than expected for Meghan Reaume — she decided to purchase a lottery ticket for herself while shopping, and ended up winning the $500,000 Extra prize from the November 25, 2022 Lotto Max draw.
“I was shopping for Scratch & Win tickets to give as gifts,” recalled Reaume. “Then I saw the Lotto Max jackpot was over $50 million, so I bought myself a ticket as it was Friday!”
The Comox resident initially forgot about the ticket and left it in her bedroom. Upon finding the ticket, she checked BCLC’s Lotto! App.
“I showed my dad my phone, and he said, ‘no way!’ It was a surreal Saturday.”
Reaume plans on visiting family members in Ontario as she hasn’t seen them in years.
On how it feels to win?
“I’m still processing – it feels like a dream!”
Reaume purchased the winning ticket at Esso on Anderton Road in Comox.
So far in 2022, B.C. lottery players have redeemed more than $43 million in winnings from the Extra and more than $169 million from Lotto Max. Lotto Max is a nationwide lottery game drawn on Tuesdays and Fridays after 7:30 p.m. (PST).
