Musicians Cheryl Morgan and Suzanne Richard love to play multiple instruments together in their band called Sweet Potatoes, and after discovering they won a $1-million Lotto 6/49 prize from the March 22, 2023 draw, they look forward to some even sweeter travel plans.
The Richmond couple purchased the ticket from Seafair Smoke & Mixer on No. 1 Road and was at a Safeway getting groceries when Morgan decided to check the ticket.
“I gave it to the gentleman at the store and it shut down the system,” Morgan recalled.
Richard was in another aisle shopping for yogurt when Morgan came to tell her the news.
“We didn’t believe it,” Richard exclaimed.
Neither one of them has told anyone about their exciting win, however, they do plan on sharing some of their prize with loved ones.
The two of them also added that in addition to a trip to Italy, they each plan to purchase a new car and will also pay off their mortgage with part of the winnings.
On how it feels to be millionaires?
“I feel calm and secure,” said Morgan.
Richard added she also feels “calm about the future.”
