Categories and Tags

Categories

Represented by folders, each article can only belong to one category and should not be duplicated across multiple categories. When browsing articles, readers will see the folders as categories that filter the article results, so it's important to create the article page in the correct category folder.

Note: If an article is involved in potentially more than one category, the category chosen for the article depends on the priority of categories involved.

Example:

“MGM Resorts Adopts BCLC’s GameSense Program” could be related to Our Business or Player Health, but it should be added to Player Health since this category takes priority (1st on the list versus 5th).

The following categories are available and listed in order of priority:

  1. Player Health (ie. GameSense advisors additions, new gambling help programs)
  2. Winners (ie. Personal stories about winners from lottery or casino)
  3. Our People (ie. New hires, personnel or role changes)
  4. Community (ie. BCLC’s impact on communities through gaming funds, charity donations)

Note: The articles in Community Stories contain a short paragraph or two about positive benefits to a specific community. Regular community articles (not included in the Stories folder) are full length and follow the generic structure seen in other categories.

  5. Our Business (ie. Products, services, operations)

Tags

While each article can only belong to one category, articles can contain multiple tags. Tags are more specific and list characteristics such as the community, products, and any other related properties that exist across multiple articles.

  • Tags determine which articles get displayed as a related article on other pages
  • Tags are a way to filter through article content; on article pages, clicking on the tag lists other articles with that same tag on a new page

Below is a guideline for common tags that can be expected from articles, depending on the category.
